CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Leemire Goldwire connected on 7-of-10 3-pointers and finished with 25 points to lead Charlotte to a 61-46 victory over Richmond on Wednesday night.

Charlotte (10-12, 4-6 Atlantic 10) got eight points and 10 rebounds each from E.J. Drayton and Jerell Jamison, and won for only the second time in its last six games.

Brain Morris had 11 points and Ryan Butler added 10 points for Richmond (5-18, 1-9 Atlantic 10), which has lost 16 of its last 17 games, including eight straight.

The 46 points were a season-low for the Spiders. They shot just 38 percent from the field and were out-rebounded 42-18.

Charlotte missed 17 of its first 20 shots to start the game and trailed 16-6 with less than six minutes remaining in the first half until Goldwire gave some much-needed life to the 49ers offense.

He sparked a 15-2 Charlotte run to close the half. Goldwire scored 11 of those points, including three 3-pointers as Charlotte took a 21-18 lead into the locker room.

With seven 3-pointers, Goldwire moved into sixth place in school history with 185 for his career.

Despite its poor shooting in the opening half, Charlotte stayed in the game by out-rebounding the freshman laden Spiders, 26-8.

Charlotte's full court press began to take its toll on the Spiders in the second half and the 49ers broke open a close game with a 16-4 run behind two more 3-pointers by Goldwire.
