Spears is a transfer from Boston College who will sit out the 2008-09 season per NCAA rules on Div. I transfers and have two years of eligibility remaining. A strong double-double-type player in the paint, Spears will reinforce the 49ers frontcourt next season.

At Blair Academy:
Completed three-year career with over 2000 points ... finished 2nd on Blair Academy's all-time scoring list behind Luol Deng ... averaged 26.0 points and 10.0 rebounds in 2005-06 and 25.0 points and 10.0 rebounds in 2004-05.
At Salisbury High:
Spears attended Salisbury High for two years before enrolling at Blair Academy ... scored 55 points in a game for Salisbury.
