Andersen Up Close
Ian's parents met while his Dad was in a rock and roll band, Airborne, and named Ian after Jethro Tull's lead singer.
What is your favorite musical group/style:
Christian music and classic rock.
What is your favorite Jethro Tull song:
The Teacher. And also Locomotive Breath and Bungle in the Jungle.
Any musical talent of our own:
None
Before games and practices, you drench your head.
What's that all about:
It's certainly not superstitious. I just like the look and the feel, like I've already got going. I enjoy the way it feels, moreso with longer hair.
You came to Charlotte from Portland, Ore.
Why the cross country move:
It was the best opportunity that God had presented to me. It's a blessing from the Lord to come out here. What an opportunity. It's been a blessing.
What have you enjoyed most about Charlotte that you can't get in Portland:
Really just the opportunity to move across the country and experience a different culture. The learning process.
You have twice won the Charles Hayward Memorial Grubstake Award.
How much do you know about Charles Hayward:
I never knew him and I hadn't heard of him before I got here. Everything I've heard is that he was a tremendous human being. I've heard he was a great basketball player but that is the least that you hear about him. You hear about how tremendous a person he was and how inspirational.
What makes the award special for you:
It's an honor which makes you thankful for the opportunity to play basketball -- and its humbling knowing that your teammates would vote for you for that.
You'll connect on your 100th three-pointer this year and close in, if not crack, the 49ers all-time top 10 in three-pointers made:
Charlotte has a rich three-point shooting history. What shooters have you met and have any given you tips:
I've met Jobey Thomas a couple of times -- the guy's work ethic speaks for itself. Demon Brown -- he's an encouraging fellow. And Leemire Goldwire. He doesn't even have to say a word. You watch Leemire walk into a gym and it encourages you to work hard and get better because that's what he did everyday. He's absolutely the hardest worker I've been around. He willed himself to get better.
