Charlotte, N.C. - Stadium dedication ceremonies and 2007 NCAA Tournament and Atlantic 10 Championship Ring presentations will be a part of a big week for the Charlotte 49ers baseball team. The dedication begins with a reception at 4:00 p.m. and a ceremony at 4:30 p.m. Friday afternoon at 6 p.m., the 49ers will participate in their first of three Green vs. White intrasquad scrimmage in full uniforms.

Friday's agenda begins at 4 p.m. with a reception followed by words from University Chancellor Philip Dubois and Director of Athletics Judy Rose as the stadium is officially dedicated Robert and Mariam Hayes Stadium during a ceremony slated to gegin around 4:30 p.m. Bob Hayes, of the Hayes family, will be on hand and remark on the occasion. Charlotte baseball players will be presented with their rings to commemorate their outstanding 2007 season.

The Niners will then take the field in exhibition against one another to showcase many new faces and improved returning players at the new ballpark. The new stadium will be unveiled to fans, including new sound system and scoreboard, full seating availability and other in-stadium amenities.

Other notes for the week include a Wednesday afternoon limited scrimmage at the stadium at 3:30 p.m., and the second Green/White scrimmage on Sunday afternoon at 5 p.m.

In the 2007 season, Charlotte finished with a school record 49 wins, including a pair of wins over North Carolina State at the NCAA Regionals in Columbia, S.C., the first post-season wins in program history. The 49ers claimed both the regular season and tournament titles of the Atlantic 10 Conference en route to the post-season berth, the third for the program. Charlotte finished 23-4 in league play last season, garnering honors for Coach of the Year (Loren Hibbs) and Pitcher of the Year (Adam Mills). Mills led the nation in wins and earned run average, while the team had the lowest ERA in the country.
