Baseball Spends All Week on Campus as Fall Practice Continues

Four Scrimmages Planned for Third Week of Practice

Oct. 6, 2008

Charlotte, N.C. - After almost two weeks packing up and heading to North Mecklenburg High for practice while the stadium field underwent maintenance, the Charlotte 49ers baseball team spends its second straight week this week on campus for fall practice at Tom and Lib Phillips Field at Robert and Mariam Hayes Stadium.

As the fall schedule begins to wind down to the finale of the Green/White Niners World Series and ring ceremony on Saturday, October 25th, the Niners continue to focus on consistency and improvement.

This week, Charlotte will practice at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday before scheduled scrimmages on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m., Friday at 4:30 p.m. and after a Saturday off, they will return to the field for a Sunday scrimmage at 4:30 p.m. The Niners will take off Monday and go again for a scrimmage on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.

More information will be posted on the final fall weekend, which includes a fundraiser for the Second Harvest Food Bank, as they become available.

The Niners finished 43-16 in 2008, winning 40-plus games in back-to-back seasons, a first for the program. Charlotte also set the school record with a .333 batting average. The 2009 season begins on the road at ACC foe Clemson, with a three-game weekend series that begins on Friday, February 20 at 4 p.m.
