The Charlotte 49ers baseball team hosts Conference USA foe Louisville this weekend, April 18-20, in a three-game series at Kannapolis' Fieldcrest-Cannon Stadium. The first game of the series, Friday, April 18 is at 1 pm. The final two games of the series are Saturday, April 19 at 12 pm and Sunday, April 20 at 1 pm.
Fieldcrest-Cannon Stadium is the home of the Kannapolis Intimidators, the single "A" affiliate of the Chicago White Sox. To get to Fieldcrest-Cannon Stadium, you take I-85 North to exit 63. Then, you take a left onto Lane Street, Stadium Drive will be 0.3 miles on the right.
Charlotte enters the series with an 15-17 record and a 6-8 mark in Conference USA, while Louisville comes to town with a record of 22-12 record and an 8-7 mark in Conference USA.
The 49ers are led by junior catcher Randall Poplin who leads the team with a .346 batting average and 36 RBI. Junior pitcher Zachary Treadway has a won a team-high five games and enters the series having won his last four Conference USA starts.
The Charlotte-Louisville baseball rivalry dates back to 1992 when both schools were members of the Metro Conference. Charlotte leads the all-time series 18-15.
Ticket prices for the games this weekend are $3 for adults and all youth (17-and-under) are free. Also, all Charlotte 49ers students are free with a valid student ID.
