Charlotte Baseball Cracks NCBWA Top 30 Poll

Niners Continue to Receive Votes in Several Other Polls

Charlotte, N.C. - After sweeping its three-game series with Massachusetts to improve to a program-record 22-5 overall and 5-1 in A-10 play, Charlotte is ranked 29th in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association top 30 poll, released on Monday (and listed below).

Perfect Game Crosschecker's weekly Top 50 poll has Charlotte at number 33.

Charlotte is among others receiving votes in the latest USA Today/ESPN Top 25 Coaches' Poll. The Niners, which received three votes last week, are now getting 10 votes in the latest poll.

Rivals.com has Charlotte among five teams considered for its Top 25 weekly poll.

The NCBWA poll voters come from 32 college baseball writers and related media persons from throughout the nation.

The 49ers have won seven of their last eight games and lead the Conference in hitting (.327) and earned run average (2.55). Senior catcher Kris Rochelle is tops in the A-10 in batting average (.464), while senior RHP Adam Mills is 7-1 with a league-leading 1.20 earned run average. Charlotte pitchers did not issue a walk in its three-game series versus Massachusetts (Mar. 30-Apr. 1) and fanned 21.

Charlotte resumes action on Apr. 3 when it hosts Winthrop at 6:00pm.
