CHARLOTTE, NC - The Charlotte 49ers baseball team hosts Conference USA rival #18 East Carolina in a three-game series this weekend at Tom and Lib Phillips Field, April 2-4. The series begins Friday, April 2 at 6 pm. The other two games in the series are Saturday at 2 pm and Sunday at 1 pm.

Both teams enter the weekend tied for sixth place with identical 3-3 Conference USA records. The 49ers have played Saint Louis and Tulane in C-USA action this season, while East Carolina has faced Tulane and Memphis so far this season.

Charlotte, who enters the weekend with a 13-9 overall record, ranks second as a team in the league with 36 home runs. Seniors Jamie Rusco, Brian Scafe and Thomas Bowker have paced the 49ers offense this season. Rusco ranks among C-USA leaders with a .400 batting average, an .863 slugging percentage and 10 home runs. Scafe is second on the team with a .355 batting average and he has already tied his career-high with six home runs. Bowker is second on the team with seven home runs.

East Carolina enters the weekend series with a 21-6 record. The Pirates lead Conference USA with 38 home runs. Trevor Lawhorn is tied for second in Conference USA with nine home runs this season.

Admission to each game is $5 for adults and all youth 17-and-under as well as Charlotte 49ers students with valid student IDs are free.
