Adam Mills
Baseball
Junior
Big Pool, M.D
Mills struck out nine George Washington batters on Friday night, throwing 8 2/3 innings of scoreless baseball in a game that the 49ers eventually won, 1-0 in 11 innings. It was the school's first-ever Atlantic 10 Conference victory, as Charlotte defeated the defending regular-season champions.
Mills allowed just six hits in the game, including three that didn't leave the infield. Two bunt hits and a blooper at the edge of the infield grass accounted for three of the six base hits for GW.
His strikeout total was one off his career high. Only one baserunner advanced beyond second base all game. Mills struck out one in the first, three in the second, two in the fourth, one in the fifth, and two in the eighth. No GW player had more than one hit in the game.
Other Nominees: Caleb Henley (m. track), Aja Jackson (w. track), Ofra Friedman (women's tennis), Sakellie Daniels (women's basketball), Roy Sichel (men's tennis) and Kristen Bowen (softball)
