Kannapolis, N.C. - Rain has forced a postponement of Friday afternoon's scheduled 2 p.m. game between visiting College of Charleston and Charlotte in Kannapolis, N.C. The two teams have rescheduled Saturday's game to a doubleheader, keeping the original noon start time.
The contests are part of the three-game home-and-home series between the two schools. They are scheduled to play game three at Patriot Point in Charleston on Sunday at 1 p.m.
This is the fourth delay or postponement for a Charlotte baseball contest this season.
The doubleheader is the final date for Charlotte to play an off-campus home date. The Niners are 11-0 at home this season, despite having played home games at three different off-campus sites while construction continues on Robert and Mariam Hayes Stadium. Charlotte has won all six previos games played at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium in Kannapolis. Charlotte's facility is scheduled to open on March 30, against visiting Massachusetts, for the Atlantic 10 home-opening series for the Niners.
