Mills and Rochelle Named A-10 Baseball Players of the Week

Seniors Post Big Numbers for Week as Niners Go 2-0 Versus Virginia Tech and Radford

Philadelphia, Pa. - Senior right-hander Adam Mills was named Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week and his battery mate, senior Kris Rochelle, was named Co-Player of the Week officialls announced Monday. For the week, Charlotte swept both games, an 11-0 win over Virginia Tech Thursday and a 24-0 decision over Radford on Sunday. Charlotte pitching has thrown 30 straight shutout innings, including shutouts of its last three opponents, one shy of the school record. Offensively, the Niners set a pair of school records with eight doubles and a 24-run margin of victory on Sunday.

Charlotte has logged all three Pitcher Honors in three weeks, while capturing Player accolades in two of the three weeks that the awards have been given.

Mills, a senior from Big Pool, Md., allowed only one hit and one walk, while striking out a career-high 14 batters in seven innings against Radford on Sunday. It was his only appearance for the week. Mills has 32 strikeouts in 20 innings pitched this season. He was earlier named InsidePitching.com's Southeast Region Pitcher of the Week and was one of six on the Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week list.

Rochelle has caught two national Pitcher's of the Week in consecutive games, and helped out their cause this week by throwing out two steal attempts and picking a third runner off base. The senior from Richmond, Va. also had a great week in the batter's box. For the week, Rochelle hit .714 (5-for-7) with two doubles, a sacrifice fly and a home run, knocking a team-high seven runs for the week. He also scored three times and drew a pair of walks. He slugged 1.429 for the week and had an on-base percentage of .700 for the two contests.

The Niners will play at Furman Wednesday at 5 p.m. and host Campbell Friday and Saturday at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium in Kannapolis.
