Steedley Captures First A-10 Pitcher of the Week Honor this Season for Baseball

Senior Delivered Complete-Game Shutout For Niners at Campbell

Feb. 12, 2007

Philadelphia, Pa. - Senior left-handed pitcher Spencer Steedley was named Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week, officials announced today.

The two-way player (pitcher/outfielder) threw a complete game shutout in his second start of the season, striking out a career-high 13 hitters en route to Charlotte's 8-0 baseball win at Campbell University's Taylor Field on Saturday afternoon.

Steedley had at least one strikeout in every inning, and kept Campbell from advancing any runners to third base.

Steedley allowed seven hits, but no extra base hits or walks for his outing, his first win of the season in his second start (1-0), and his ERA dropped to 1.29 on the season. It was Charlotte's second shutout in just four contests, just one shy of last season's total.

This week, the Niners host Virginia Tech on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Kannapolis' Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium, then host Radford for a Sunday doubleheader at Pfeiffer University in Misenheimer at 11 a.m.
