AMELIA, OH - The Charlotte 49ers lost to Conference USA foe Cincinnati, 10-6, in the second game of their three-game series.
The 49ers collected 11 hits in the game. George Sandel paced the 49ers with three hits. Brad Erwin and Thomas Bowker each had two hits for Charlotte.
Cincinnati took a lead in the second inning that they would never relinquish when Aaron Moll and Jon DeLuca scored.
Charlotte cut the Cincinnati lead in half when Bowker scored on Sandel's single to left field in the fifth inning.
The Bearcats tacked on three runs on four hits in the fifth inning. Jake Smith connected on a two-run home run in the inning.
Cincinnati added two more runs in the seventh inning on Justin Niefer's two-run double to left field.
The 49ers scored four runs on four hits in the eighth inning making the score, 7-5. Bowker led off the inning with a home run over the left field wall. Then, Sandel, who reached base on a double, scored on Michael Roane's infield groundout. Then, Jamie Rusco rounded out the scoring with a two-run home run over the left center field wall.
Cincinnati retook control of the game with three runs on three hits in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Then, Charlotte's Adam Willard made the final score, 10-6, with a home run over the center field wall leading off the ninth inning.
With the loss, Charlotte falls to 21-26 overall and 11-15 in Conference USA.
The two teams conclude the regular season, Saturday, May 17 at 10 am.
