KANNAPOLIS, NC - The Charlotte 49ers baseball team lost their home finale to #29 TCU, 18-6, at Fieldcrest-Cannon Stadium.
Jamie Rusco paced the 49ers with two hits and three RBI. George Sandel and Adam Willard also had two hits for Charlotte.
TCU jumped on top early with five runs on four hits in the first inning.
Charlotte plated their first run when Sandel, who reached base on a double down the left field line, scored on Willard's double to right field.
TCU added two runs in the second inning and one run in the third inning increasing their lead to 8-1.
Then, Charlotte cut the deficit to five runs when Willard and Randall Poplin scored on the third inning. Willard scored on a TCU passed ball. Then, Poplin scored on Rusco's single to right field.
Then, TCU exploded for four more runs in the fifth inning.
Charlotte added a run in the sixth inning when Thomas Bowker scored on Adam Floyd's infield groundout.
TCU rounded out their scoring with six runs in the seventh inning.
Charlotte made the final score 18-6, with two runs in the seventh inning. Nick Blackmon and Marko Little would score the game's final two runs on Rusco's double to center field.
With the loss, the 49ers fall to 20-25 overall and 10-14 in Conference USA. With the win, TCU improved to 33-19 overall and 20-7 in Conference USA.
The 49ers close out the regular season with a three-game series at Conference USA foe Cincinnati, May 15-17. The first game of the series is Thursday, May 15 at 12 pm.
