CHARLOTTE, NC - Charlotte lost to #11 Houston, 8-4, in the second game of their three-game Conference USA series.
Houston jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Chris Snyder scored on a Charlotte fielding error in the first inning.
Charlotte took their first lead of the series, 3-1, when Brad Halvorson connected on a three-run home run over the left field wall in the second inning.
Houston cut the Charlotte lead in half when Brett Cooley connected on a solo home run over the left center field wall in the third inning.
Charlotte quickly answered Houston's run in the third inning when Brad Lamm connected on a solo home run over the left field wall in the bottom of the inning.
Houston regained the lead for good, 6-4, with four runs on three hits in the fifth inning. The big blows of the inning were home runs by Snyder and Jesse Crain.
Houston added a run in the seventh inning on Crain's second home run of the game. Then, the Cougars added a run in the eighth making the final score, 8-4.
The two teams will conclude their three-game Conference USA series, Sunday, May 12 at 12 pm.
