CHARLOTTE, NC - The Charlotte 49ers baseball team used 12 hits and strong pitching from Zachary Treadway to pound Cincinnati, 12-1, in the final game of their three-game series. The game was stopped after seven innings due to Conference USA's Sunday 10-run rule.
Treadway recorded his first complete game victory of the season after scattering eight hits and allowing only one run with four strikeouts. Treadway, a native of Cincinnati, has defeated the Bearcats for the second straight season.
Thomas Bowker and Adam Floyd paced the 49ers with three hits. Adam Willard and Jamie Rusco each had two hits in the game for Charlotte. Willard scored three runs with three RBI. Rusco scored twice with two RBI. Bowker and Brian Scafe also each scored two runs for Charlotte.
The 49ers exploded for four runs in the first inning on three hits. Bowker scored the game's first run on Willard's double down the right field line. Then, Willard scored on Rusco's two-run blast over the left field wall. Rusco's home run was his 14th of the season which ties him for the fifth highest single-season total in the program's history. Then, Randall Poplin connected on a sacrifice fly to center field scoring Brian Scafe with the inning's fourth run.
Then, Charlotte continued their offensive explosion with six more runs in the second inning, Floyd, Chris Lane, Bowker, Willard, Rusco and Scafe scored in the inning for Charlotte.
Cincinnati plated their only run when Erik Eitel scored on Pat LeMasters' infield groundout in the third inning.

Willard closed out the scoring when he connected on his seventh home run of the season with a solo blast over the right field wall in the fifth inning.
The 49ers return to action when they host #18 Southern Miss in their final home Conference USA series of the season next weekend, May 14-16. The first game of the series is Friday, May 14 at 6 pm.
