CHARLOTTE, NC - The Charlotte 49ers baseball team despite 11 hits and home runs from Cory Lane and Thomas Bowker lost to Cincinnati, 11-4, at Tom and Lib Phillips Field.

Bowker, Chris Lane, Jamie Rusco and Michael Roane each connected on two hits in the game.

Jack Nelson and Steve Pickerell each had three hits for the Bearcats. Pickerell led all hitters with three RBI.

In the first inning, the Bearcats scratched across the game's first run when Mark Muscenti scored on Jack Nelson's double to right center field.

Then, Cincinnati took control of the game with five runs on seven hits in the fourth inning. Drew Saylor, Erik Eitel, Muscenti, Pat LeMasters and Jack Nelson scored in the inning for the Bearcats.

Cory Lane plated the 49ers first run when he connected on his first home run of the season with a solo blast over right field wall.

Cincinnati tacked on two more runs on sacrifice flies by Eitel and Muscenti in the fifth inning.

Cincinnati added three more runs on four hits in the sixth inning.

The 49ers added two runs in the eighth inning. Chris Lane and Adam Willard scored in the inning for the 49ers.

Then, Bowker closed out the scoring when he connected on his career-high ninth home run of the season on a solo blast over the left field wall in the ninth inning.

The two teams conclude their three-game Conference USA series is Sunday, May 9 at 1 pm.
