CHARLOTTE, NC - The Charlotte 49ers baseball team fell to Cincinnati at home, 5-4, Friday night. Jamie Rusco connected on his team-high 13th home run of the season. Adam Willard and Thomas Bowker paced the 49ers with three hits.

Cincinnati scored a run in the eighth inning to tie the game. Then, Erik Eitel scored on Jon DeLuca's single to center field in the ninth inning.

In the second inning, the Bearcats took an early lead when DeLuca and Drew Saylor scored on Brian Beltz's single to center field in the second inning.

The 49ers tied the score, 2-2, when Rusco connected on a two-run blast over the right field wall in the third inning.

Cincinnati regained the lead in the sixth inning when Steve Pickerell scored on a Charlotte fielding error.

Then, Charlotte took the lead with two runs on three hits in the bottom of the sixth inning. Adam Floyd, who reached base on a single to left field, scored on Bowker's double off the center field wall. Then, Bowker scored the go-ahead run on Willard's infield single.

Then, Cincinnati with two unanswered runs made the final score, 5-4.

The two teams continue their three-game Conference USA series is Saturday, May 8 at 2 pm.
