CHARLOTTE, NC - The Davidson Wildcats baseball team behind run-scoring singles form Jay Heafner and Taylor Shoop in the tenth inning defeated Charlotte, 3-1, in the two teams final meeting of the season.
Adam Willard paced the 49ers with three hits. Chris Lane added two hits to the Charlotte attack.
Heafner lead Davidson with two hits including the game-winning single in the tenth inning.
The 49ers plated their only run of the game when Cory Lane scored on Adam Floyd's one-out double down the left field line in the fifth inning.
Davidson tied the score, 1-1, when Heafner scored on a Charlotte fielding error in the seventh inning.
Davidson took the lead for good with two runs on three hits in the tenth inning. Ronnie Shore scored the game-winning run on Heafner's infield single. Then, Eli Benefield scored the inning's other run on Shoop's single to left center field.
Charlotte hosts C-USA rival Cincinnati in a three-game series this weekend, May 7-9. The first game of the series is Friday, May 7 at 6 pm.
