CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers fell to Cincinnati, 17-7, as the Bearcats took control of the game with 12 runs in the sixth and seventh innings.
Adam Willard, George Sandel, Joey Bradshaw and Brad Halvorson each had two hits for the 49ers.
The 49ers jumped out to a 2-0 lead when Brad Erwin connected on a two-run home run over the left center field wall in the first inning.
Cincinnati cut the Charlotte lead in half, 2-1, when Aaron Moll scored on Nate Fish's sacrifice fly to left field in the second inning.
Charlotte increased their lead to 4-1 when Marko Little connected on a two-run home run over the right field wall in the second inning.
The Bearcats cut the Charlotte lead to 4-3 when Jake Smith connected on a two-run home run over the left field wall in the third inning.
Charlotte increased their lead to 6-3 with two runs on a hit in the third inning. Erwin scored the inning's first run on Joey Bradshaw's triple down the right field line. Then, Bradshaw scored the inning's other run on Alex Derhak's sacrifice fly to center field.
Cincinnati cut the Charlotte lead, 6-5, with two runs on two hits in the fourth inning.
Then, the Bearcats took the lead for good, 12-6, with seven runs on four hits in the sixth inning. The big blow of the inning was Moll's two-out grand slam home run over the left field wall.
The Bearcats increased their lead to 17-6 with five runs on three hits in the seventh inning. The big blow of the inning was Joey List's two-out grand slam over the left center field wall.
