CHARLOTTE, NC - The Charlotte 49ers baseball team behind Kris Rochelle's two-out ninth inning run-scoring single rallied to defeat Davidson, 5-4, at Tom and Lib Phillips Field.
Adam Willard, Thomas Bowker, Randall Poplin, Cory Lane and Chris Lane each had two hits for the 49ers.
Davidson plated the game's first two runs in the third inning. Andrew Musashe scored the game's first run on Taylor Shoop's single to left field. Then, Jay Heafner scored the inning's other run on Alex Entrekin's single to left field.
Charlotte cut the Davidson lead in half when Cory Lane, who reached base on a single to left center field, scored on Chris Lane's infield groundout in the bottom half of the third inning.
The 49ers tied the score when Bowker, who reached base on his second double of the game, scored on Randall Poplin's single to center field in the fourth inning.
Davidson regained the lead with two runs on two hits in the eighth inning. Eli Benefield scored the go-ahead run on Heafner's double down the left field line. Heafner then scored on Alex Entrekin's double off the left center field wall.
Charlotte again tied the score with two runs on three hits in the eighth inning. Rochelle scored the first run of the inning on Adam Floyd's sacrifice bunt. Then, Cory Lane, who reached base on a double to left field, scored the tying run on Chris Lane's single to left field.

Pitcher Adam Mills collected his team-high fourth win of the season after throwing a scoreless ninth inning.
The 49ers return to action this weekend at Conference USA foe USF in Tampa, Florida, April 30-May 2. The first game of the series is Friday, April 30 at 7 pm.
