ROCK HILL, SC - The Charlotte 49ers baseball team dropped a road game at Winthrop, 17-2.

Thomas Bowker paced the 49ers with three hits.

Winthrop's Matt Repec paced the Eagles with three hits and four RBI. Daniel Carte added three hits and three RBI to the Winthrop attack.

Winthrop plated the game's first three runs on a couple of hits in the first inning. Chris Carrara scored the game's first run on Daniel Carte's single to right field. Then, Carte scored on David Scoggin's double to left field. Scoggin scored the inning's final run on Matt Repec's sacrifice fly to right field.

Winthrop increased their lead with three runs on four hits in the third inning. Repec, Tommy Lentz and Kyle Roberson connected on run scoring singles in the inning.

Charlotte plated their first run in the fourth inning when Jamie Rusco scored on Randall Poplin's double down the right field line.

Winthrop tacked on two more runs on Carte's two-run home run over the left field wall in the fourth inning.

Michael Roane scored the 49ers second run on Kris Rochelle's bases loaded walk in the fifth inning.

The Eagles added two more runs in the sixth inning on Repec's two-run double to center field.

Winthrop scored their final seven runs on four hits in the seventh inning.

The 49ers host cross-county rival Davidson at Tom and Lib Phillips Field, Wednesday, April 28 at 6 pm.
