KANNAPOLIS, NC - The Charlotte 49ers baseball team lost to #3 Wake Forest, 15-3, at Fieldcrest-Cannon Stadium.

Charlotte's Brian York paced the 49ers with two hits both doubles.

Wake Forest took the lead for good, 1-0, when Ryan Braun, who reached base on a Charlotte error, scored on Ryder Mathias' sacrifice fly to left field in the second inning.

The Demon Deacons added a run in the third inning on Jamie D'Antona's two-out solo home run over the center field wall.

The 49ers cut the Wake Forest lead in half, 2-1, when Alex Derhak connected on his fourth home run of the season a solo shot over the left field wall in the fourth inning.

Wake Forest blew the game open, 9-1, with seven runs on six hits in the sixth inning.

The Demon Deacons increased their lead to 10-1 when Ryan Hubbard connected on a solo home run over the left field wall in the seventh inning.

Wake Forest added four runs in the eighth inning and one run in the ninth inning to round their scoring.

Charlotte's Chris Brake connected on a two-out single to right field that scored Dusty Stepp and Brian York with the game's final runs.

The 49ers host #19 North Carolina, Wednesday, April 24 at Kannapolis' Fieldcrest-Cannon Stadium at 6:35 pm.
