DAVIDSON, NC - The Charlotte 49ers drop a tight extra inning game, 3-2, to crosstown rival Davidson. Davidson's Sam Navarro connected two-out two-run double to right field in the tenth inning for the game-winning hit..

With the loss, Charlotte falls to 16-19 overall. While, Davidson improved to 14-19 overall.

Davidson scored the game's first run on Eli Benefield's solo home run over the left field wall in the third inning.

The 49ers knotted the score, 1-1, when Randall Poplin, who reached base on a double to right field, scored on Jamie Rusco's single to center field in the sixth inning.

The 49ers took their first lead of the game when Rusco connected on a one-out solo home run over the right center field wall in the tenth inning.

Then, Navarro's two-out two-run double gave Davidson the 3-2 win.

The 49ers return to action this weekend, April 25-27, when they host Conference USA foe Memphis in a three-game series at Kannapolis' Fieldcrest-Cannon Stadium. The first game of the series is Friday, April 25 at 6:30 pm.
