KANNAPOLIS, NC - The Charlotte 49ers and Louisville split a baseball doubleheader at Fieldcrest-Cannon Stadium. Charlotte behind the pitching of Zachary Treadway and 12 hits won game one, 8-3. Then, Louisville scored five runs in the first inning and then held on for a 7-4 win in the second game.
Treadway won his fifth straight Conference USA start as he scattered four hits and allowed three runs in six and a third innings. Treadway improved to a team-best 6-2 on the season.
In game one, Charlotte collected 12 hits. George Sandel paced the 49ers by going 4-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored. Charlotte's Randall Poplin had two hits and two RBI in the game.
In game one, Charlotte took an early 1-0 lead when Sandel scored on Brad Erwin's sacrifice fly to center field in the first inning.
Then, the 49ers increased their lead to 5-0 with four runs on six hits in the third inning. Adam Floyd, Sandel, Poplin and Brad Erwin scored in the inning.
Louisville cut the Charlotte lead, 5-2, when Ron Braun connected on a two-run home run over the left center field wall in the fourth inning.
Charlotte answered with a run in the bottom of the fourth inning when Thomas Bowker scored on Poplin's double off the left field wall.
Charlotte tacked on two more runs in the sixth inning. Sandel scored the first run of the inning on Poplin's single to left center field. Then, Bowker scored the inning's final run on a Louisville wild pitch.
Louisville scored a run in the seventh inning making the final score, 8-3.
In game two, Louisville jumped out to an early 5-0 lead with five runs on five hits in the first inning. The big of the inning for Louisville was Luis Pardo's two-run double to left field.

The 49ers cut the deficit to 7-3 with three runs on four hits in the third inning. Brad Lamm scored the inning's first run on Brian Scafe's triple to right field. Then, Scafe scored on Sandel's triple to right field. Sandel scored the inning's final run on Bowker's single to center field.
Charlotte tacked on the game's final run in the fifth inning when Bowker connected on a two-out solo home run over the left field wall.
With the split, Charlotte's record goes to 16-18 overall and 7-9 in Conference USA. While, Louisville goes to 23-13 overall and 9-8 in Conference USA.
The 49ers return to action on Tuesday, April 22 at crosstown rival Davidson at 7 pm.
