LOUISVILLE, KY - The Charlotte 49ers baseball team used two home runs from both Spencer Steedley and Randall Poplin to beat Louisville, 13-8, Saturday.
Steedley enjoyed a career-game with four hits, five RBI and three runs scored. Poplin collected three hits, scored three runs and had four RBI in the game.
Adam Mills collected his third win of the season by scattering two hits and allowing two runs with three strikeouts as he pitched the final three and two-thirds innings.
Louisville scored the game's first run when Nick Haley scored on Mark Jurich's single to left field in the first inning.
The 49ers tied the score when Thomas Bowker scored on Jamie Rusco's double to left center field in the third inning.
Then, Charlotte took the lead when Adam Willard, who reached base on a double down the left field line, scored on Bowker's single to right field in the fifth inning.
The Cardinals tied the game in the bottom of the fifth inning when Ron Braun scored on Isaiah Howes sacrifice fly to center field.
The, Charlotte regained the lead in the sixth inning with three runs on four hits. Steedley started the scoring off with his third home run of the season a solo blast over the right field wall. Then, Chris Lane's two-run single to center field scoring Randall Poplin and Cory Lane with the inning's other runs.
Louisville regained the lead, 7-5, with five runs on three hits in the sixth inning. The big hit of the inning's was Daniel Burton's two-run double off the right field wall.

In the ninth inning, Steedley continued to be on-fire with a double down the left field line scoring Rusco with the inning's first run. Then, Poplin became the fifth Charlotte player to connect on two home runs in a game with a three-run blast over the right field wall in the inning.
Daniel Burton closed out the game's scoring with a leadoff home run over the left field wall in the bottom of the ninth inning.
The two teams conclude their three-game Conference USA series, Sunday, April 18 at 11 am.
