Final Stats

CHARLOTTE, NC - Charlotte drops a hard fought battle, 3-2, to Conference USA foe East Carolina. East Carolina scored all three of their runs in the second inning.

East Carolina took the lead for good, 3-0, with three runs on four hits in the second inning. Adam Stephens and Warren Gaspar scored the game's first two runs on Clayton McCullough's double to right center field. Then, McCullough scored the Pirate's final run on an East Carolina infield groundout.

Charlotte cut the East Carolina lead to 3-1 in the sixth inning when Marko Little was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded scoring Brad Lamm.

Charlotte scored the game's final run in the eighth inning when Lamm scored his second run of the game on a Travis Hill single to center field.

East Carolina pitcher Will Brinson won his third game of the season after scattering nine hits and allowing only one unearned run in five innings. East Carolina's Greg Bunn threw one and two-thirds innings of scoreless baseball for his fourth save of the season. While, Charlotte pitcher John Maine was the hard luck loser after only allowing one earned run with ten strikeouts and no walks in a complete game performance.

The team returns to action at UNC Greensboro, Tuesday, April 16 at 6 pm.
