KANNAPOLIS, NC - Charlotte falls to East Carolina, 10-4, in the first game of their three-game Conference USA series. With the win East Carolina improved to 25-8-1 overall and 7-5-1 in Conference USA. While, Charlotte falls to 16-17 overall and 6-7 in Conference USA.

East Carolina's Darryl Lawhorn and Jamie Paige each had two hits in the game. While, Charlotte's George Sandel and Joey Bradshaw each had two hits in the game.

Charlotte took an early 1-0 lead when Travis Hill scored on a Brian Bowman single to center field in the third inning.

East Carolina took the lead for good at 2-1 when Warren Gaspar connected on a two-run single in the fourth inning.

East Carolina increased their lead to 5-1 with three runs in the fifth inning. The big hit of the inning was a Darryl Lawhorn two-run single to left field.

Charlotte cut the East Carolina lead to 5-2 when George Sandel, who tripled to right field, scored on a East Carolina fielding error in the sixth inning.

East Carolina took control of the game as they scored five runs on three hits in the seventh inning to increase their lead to 10-2. The big hit of the inning was a bases loaded triple by Clayton McCullough.

Charlotte added their third run of the game when Marko Little scored on East Carolina pitcher Kieran Mattison's balk in the eighth inning.

Charlotte's Joey Bradshaw scored the game's final run on a George Sandel single in the ninth inning.

The two teams return to action at Kannapolis' Fieldcrest-Cannon Stadium, Saturday, April 13 at 1 pm.
