Greensboro, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers took advantage of four untimely errors and won their second straight road contest 16-6 over North Carolina A&T at World War Memorial Stadium in Greensboro on Tuesday afternoon. In the game, senior second baseman Cory Lane tied Niner All-American Joey Anderson for the Charlotte career record for triples at 24.
The Niners (17-4) scored a run in the first on a Brad McElroy double and two unearned runs in the second on a Cory Lane single to jump out to an early 3-0 lead. The runs chased away Aggies starter Jonathan Smith after two innings of work.
The Aggies answered in the third with a pair of runs on a double by right fielder Patrick Oates. A&T then scored a run on a sacrifice fly in the fourth to tie the game at three.
The Niners put up eight runs in the fifth, all unearned, as Charlotte sent 12 men to the plate in the inning. After two hits and two outs, shortstop Shayne Moody hit a ball right down the right field line that was nearly caught by Oates, but it dropped fair and two runs scored to kickstart the offense again. The Niners then took the extra out and churned out four more hits and a hit batter to pull ahead 11-3. After a single, the record-tying triple and a hit batter, McElroy and designated hitter Chris Taylor hit back-to-back doubles to push across the last of the runs in the frame.
Charlotte was not done scoring, putting up four more runs in the sixth on three more hits as third baseman Aaron Bray and catcher Kris Rochelle knocked in two runs each on back-to-back singles.

The Aggies put up three in the bottom of the Ninth for the final margin on a three-run homer by left fielder Jeremy Jones.
Lane and McElroy each finished with three hits and three RBI for Charlotte. Both had their sixth multiple RBI performance for the Niners, which leads the team. Seven different Niners scored twice in the game.
Charlotte heads to Saint Louis this weekend to begin Atlantic 10 play. The weekend series begins Friday night at 8 p.m. Central against the Billikens.
