Niners Score Two in Ninth to Upend #30 College of Charleston

Charlotte Rallies Twice to Beat Cougars in Final At-Bat

Kannapolis, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers rallied for four runs in the seventh and two in the ninth to overtake the College of Charleston Cougars 7-6 in game one of a doubleheader at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium in Kannapolis Saturday afternoon. Charlotte remains perfect at home (12-0) and jumps to 15-3 on the season. College of Charleston drops to 13-5 on the season, losing two straight decisions. College of Charleston was ranked #30 in the lastest NCBWA poll.

Charlotte got a two-out single from pinch hitter Alan Parks in the bottom of the ninth to advance shortstop Shayne Moody to third, but the ball was thrown away trying to get Parks, allowing Moody to trot home with the game-winning run.

Reliever Bryan Hamilton got his first win of the season (1-1), retiring the only batter he faced in the ninth.

Charleston's Brian Schlitter took the loss (2-3). He allowed three hits in the ninth.

The Niners and Cougars play one more today, before heading to Patriot Point to finish the series at 1 p.m. Sunday in Charleston.
