Norfolk, VA - Charlotte falls to Old Dominion 9-5 in the first game of their two game series.

Old Dominion jumped out to an early 7-0 in the first inning. The big blows of the inning were home runs by Travis Silver and Matt Moye.

Old Dominion increased their lead to 9-0 with two runs on one hit in the second inning.

Charlotte cut the deficit to 9-4 with four runs in the sixth inning. Brad Lamm led off the inning with an infield single. He would score the 49ers first run on Brian Bowman single to rightfield. Then, Chris Brake and Derek Dixon, who reached base after getting hit by a pitch, would score on a Old Dominion throwing error. George Sandel, who reached base on the error, would score the 49ers fourth run of the inning on a wild pitch.

Charlotte added another run in the eighth inning cutting the Old Dominion lead to 9-5. Dixon led off the inning with an infield single. He would then score on Thomas Bowker's two-out double down the leftfield line.

Charlotte concludes their two-game series with Old Dominion, Sunday, March 11 at 1 pm.
