CHARLOTTE, NC - The Charlotte 49ers baseball team behind 13 hits and a season-high 15 runs pounded High Point, 15-1, in the final game of their three-game series. With the 49ers win, coach Loren Hibbs notched his 300th career win.
"Today's win was a tremendous effort by our team," Hibbs said. "We showed a lot of heart with today's effort after suffering a tough loss against High Point, Sunday. My 300th career win today is a tribute to all the many good players and coaches that have been a part of our program over the last 11 years."
Freshman Adam Floyd paced the 49ers with a career-high three hits, three RBI and three runs scored. Sophomore Thomas Bowker, junior Jamie Rusco and seniors George Sandel, Brad Lamm and Brad Erwin each collected two hits for 49ers.
Charlotte senior pitcher Matt Savage scattered five hits and did not allow any runs over eight innings to improve to 2-0 on the season.
Charlotte drew first blood when Jamie Rusco scored on Brad Lamm's single to center field in the second inning.
The 49ers added three runs in the third inning to increase their lead to 4-0. Then, they added another run in the fourth inning.
In the fifth inning, Charlotte increased their lead to 8-0 with three runs on four hits. Rusco led off the inning with his second home run of the season over the right field wall.
Charlotte closed out their scoring with five runs in the seventh inning and two more runs in the eighth inning.

With the win, the 49ers improved to 4-3 on the season. While, High Point fell to 3-7.
Charlotte hosts Furman at Tom and Lib Phillips Field, Wednesday, February 26 at 3:30 pm.
