ELON, NC - The Charlotte 49ers baseball team dropped their first road game of the season, 7-0, at 2002 NCAA Tournament participant Elon.

Thomas Bowker, Michael Roane and Alex Derhak each had a hit for the 49ers.

Elon took a 3-0 lead with three runs on four hits in the second inning. Paul Bennett, Evan Tartaglia and Brian Ingram connected on run-scoring singles in the inning.

Elon increased their lead to 6-0 when Bennett, Tartaglia and Gary Morris scored in the seventh inning.

Elon added another run in the eighth inning making the final score, 7-0.

The 49ers return to action when they host Big Ten foe Penn State in a two-game series this weekend, February 15-16. The first game of the series is set for Saturday, February 15 at 12 pm.
