The campus of UNC Charlotte will serve as the site for the 2007 Atlantic 10 Cross Country Championship, conference officials announced early this week. The race will mark the first on-campus conference tournament Charlotte has hosted in its Division I history and the second on-campus race in the 2008 cross country campaign.
"We are so excited to bring the conference championship to campus," cross country head coach Brad Herbster said. "Athletic Director Judy Rose proposing the race to her colleagues and their unanimous approval was exactly what we were hoping for. We plan to put on a great meet for the Atlantic 10."
The race, originally planned to be held at Reedy Creek Park, is slated for November 1, as the host Charlotte 49ers look to capture their first A-10 conference titles.
Joining the conference championship on campus is the 2nd Annual Charlotte Invitational, scheduled for September 13, allowing the 49ers to host two meets in the same season. The Charlotte Invitational, a combined race for both college and high school teams, was the first cross country meet to be held on campus in over 25 years.
Course maps are available on the main cross country page, with more detailed information concerning the A-10 Championship available through www.atlantic10.org.
