Philadelphia – Following up on a pair of tremendous team performances at the Atlantic 10 Championships, seniors Ryan Jank and Liana Blue have been selected to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team for their accomplishments on the course and in the classroom.
Jank was selected to the squad after finishing 13th at the A-10 championships, earning his first All-Conference honor in Cross Country.
The Spartansburg, S.C. native was a 2005 Academic All-Conference selection and was the Atlantic 10 Indoor Student Athlete of the Year a season ago and was an Academic All-Conference selection during the outdoor season.
Jank boasts an exceptional 3.773 GPA in Finance and was Academic All-District last season for his excellent work in the classroom.
Blue was the 28th runner to cross the finish line at the A-10 championships, and was the fifth Charlotte runner to cross the line as the team finished in the runner-up spot just behind team champion Richmond.
This marks the first time the Blue has been selected to the Academic All-Conference team. Blue boasts an outstanding 3.875 GPA in Chemistry.
Jank and Blue’s selections mark the first time since Jane Daniels earned Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Year honors in 2006, that a Charlotte runner has been selected to the Academic All-Conference list in Cross Country.
Matt Llano from Richmond was named the male Student-Athlete of the Year, while Shiyi Zan from Massachusetts was selected to be the female Student-Athlete of the Year.
Academic All-Conference is selected by the 14 Sports Information Directors in the conference.
