Blue and Jank Selected to A-10 Academic Squad

Blue earns her first Academic All-Conference honor, while Jank continues to add to the hardware he's accumulated for his exceptional classroom work.

Nov. 14, 2008

Philadelphia – Following up on a pair of tremendous team performances at the Atlantic 10 Championships, seniors Ryan Jank and Liana Blue have been selected to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference team for their accomplishments on the course and in the classroom.

Jank was selected to the squad after finishing 13th at the A-10 championships, earning his first All-Conference honor in Cross Country.

The Spartansburg, S.C. native was a 2005 Academic All-Conference selection and was the Atlantic 10 Indoor Student Athlete of the Year a season ago and was an Academic All-Conference selection during the outdoor season.

Jank boasts an exceptional 3.773 GPA in Finance and was Academic All-District last season for his excellent work in the classroom.

Blue was the 28th runner to cross the finish line at the A-10 championships, and was the fifth Charlotte runner to cross the line as the team finished in the runner-up spot just behind team champion Richmond.

This marks the first time the Blue has been selected to the Academic All-Conference team. Blue boasts an outstanding 3.875 GPA in Chemistry.

Jank and Blue’s selections mark the first time since Jane Daniels earned Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Year honors in 2006, that a Charlotte runner has been selected to the Academic All-Conference list in Cross Country.

Matt Llano from Richmond was named the male Student-Athlete of the Year, while Shiyi Zan from Massachusetts was selected to be the female Student-Athlete of the Year.

Academic All-Conference is selected by the 14 Sports Information Directors in the conference.

Jank and Blue will be in action this weekend with the rest of the 49ers as they compete for a possible spot in next weekends NCAA National Championship meet at the Southeast Regional Championships at Wake Forest.
