Niners Head To Lehigh For Paul Short Invitational

Charlotte boasts a full squad for the first time this season in one of the biggest meets of the season.

Oct. 1, 2008

Charlotte, N.C. – For the first time this season, the Charlotte 49er Cross Country team will boast a full squad as they head to Lehigh University for the Paul Short Run on Friday.

With three meets already in the books, Charlotte has had a successful campaign thus far, but looks to put all the big guns together for a strong showing at one of the biggest meets of the season.

Paul Short boasts a 46 team field which includes fellow Atlantic 10 schools, Duquesne, George Washington, La Salle, Massachusetts, Richmond, Saint Joseph’s and Saint Bonaventure.

Head Coach Brad Herbster feels this will be a good mid-season gauge for his 49er squads to see how they match up with the rest of the A-10.

“With so many of the A-10 schools being there, this is going to let us see where we stand in the conference and on the regional and national level as well,” said Herbster about Friday’s race.

Herbster’s units are starting to creep into the regional picture as the races unfold with the men’s team being ranked tenth in the southeast region and the women’s team being ranked 15th.

Friday morning’s meet kicks off with the men’s race at 11:00 a.m. and with the women’s race to follow at 11:45 a.m.
