Slade was the top collegian in his first 8K race for the 49ers at last weekend's Davidson Invitational. Placing second overall, Slade completed the course with a time of 26:17. Charlotte finished third as a team at Davidson, scoring 59 points, just seven behind meet winner East Tennessee State.

Both cross country teams will take next weekend off before returning to action, Sept. 26 at the Great American Cross Country Festival in Raleigh, N.C.
