Charlotte Men's harriers chosen to be sixth in the Atlantic 10

Following up on their ninth place performance of a season ago, the 49er men's squad was selected to be sixth this season by the 14 A-10 coaches

Aug. 7, 2008

Philadelphia - A day after the Charlotte 49er women were chosen to be the second best team in the Atlantic 10 conference, the men's squad was picked by the 14 A-10 coaches to finish in the sixth spot for the 2008 cross country season.

Charlotte brings back a loaded unit for the 2008 campaign as a powerful group of upper classmen are geared up to lead the pack into the new season.

Chase Eckard (Granite Falls, N.C. (South Caldwell) returns off an all-conference performance a season ago and will be looked upon to help lead the veteran 49er squad to greater heights in the upcoming campaign.

Also returning to the roster is Adu Dentamo (Charlotte, N.C. (Vance) who returns to the Charlotte roster after being redshirted last year.

Alongside Eckard and Dentamo are Dakota Lowery (Garner, N.C. (West Johnson), Jordan Rickard (Aberdeen, N.C. (Pinecrest) and Ryan Jank (Spartanburg, S.C. (Dorman) who will form the base of the 49er men's team.

A familiar face was selected to be the top team on the men's side as La Salle was picked to win their third straight title and their seventh in the last eight years. Richmond, Massachusetts, Duquesne and Dayton round out the preseason top five.

Charlotte will be hosting a pair of meets this season as they will host the Bojangle's Invitational on September 13 and then the 49ers will host the Atlantic 10 Championships on November 1.

Preseason is set to begin in the coming weeks with Eckard, Dentamo, Lowery, Rickard, Jank and the rest of the 49ers taking to the course on August 28 at the Appalachian State Meet in Boone, N.C.
