Charlotte, N.C. - Track & field/Cross Country signee Aaron Kauffman continues to have an outstanding spring campaign.

Kauffman launched himself into the high school national rankings after he ran a time of 1:51.24 in the 800, placing second at the Adidas Golden West Invitational on Sunday Evening in Sacramento, California.

By comparison, the Charlotte all-time record in the men's outdoor 800 is 1:51.97.

Kauffman's time of 1:51.24 will rank him seventh in the nation in the 800, according to Dyestat Elite Ranking System (www.Dyestat.com).

The meet provided Aaron an opportunity to compete in one of the premier high school events in the country and against some of the best prep athletes in the United States. Kauffman, a senior at Red Land High School in Pennsylvania, signed with the 49ers during the spring signing period.

"We have been extremely impressed with Aaron all year," distance coach Brad Herbster said. "Aaron has a great attitude and a strong desire to race at that next level. We at Charlotte are thrilled to have him here in the fall and wish him much success this weekend at the Nike Outdoor Championships."

Aaron earned All-American honors during indoor season after placing sixth in the open 800 at the Nike Indoor Championships in Landover, Maryland.

The Nike Outdoor National Championships is one of the most prestigious prep events in the nation, and is set to begin on Thursday in Greensboro, N.C. The 800 will begin Saturday evening.
