June 1, 2005

Charlotte, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers women's cross country team has been honored with a national academic award by the Women's Intercollegiate Cross Country Coaches Association.

The 49er women posted a cumulative team grade point average of 3.452, which placed them on the WICCCA's list of the best academic cross country teams in the nation.

Specifically, the 49er women had the 32nd-highest team GPA in the nation, according to the WICCCA.

Track & Field Associate Head Coach/Cross Country Coach Brad Herbster was extremely proud of the team.

"Our women are true student-athletes. They proved that they can get the job done in the classroom as well as on the cross course. We look forward to another great cross country season in 2005."
