GREENVILLE, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers' men and women continued their cross country seasons Saturday running at the NCAA Southeast Regionals at East Carolina. The men, led by Josh Baker's ninth-place finish, were ninth, while the women placed 16th.
The 49ers' men scored 217 points to finish ninth. NC State won the team competition with 66 points. Baker was ninth for Charlotte, finishing the 10,000-meter course with a time of 30:27.5. Ed Schlichter was the next to finish for the Niners. He was 35th with a 31:06.7 time. Vince Sherry was four spots back in 39th. He had a time 31:23. Jared Kessen was the No. 4 runner for the 49ers. He was 61st with a time of 32:05.8. Jamil Muhaimin closed the team's scoring effort with a time of 32:45.7 to finish 93rd. Luke Pitman and Mike Ryan also ran on Saturday, finishing 109th and 122nd, respectively.
Cassie Ficken led the women's team to a 16th-place showing with 464 points. Wake Forest captured the women's title with 76 points. Ficken finished 38th overall with a time of 21:22.2. Jen Taylor was back in 91st place with a 22:28.8 time. Laura Syracuse crossed the line third for Charlotte in 100th place and had a time of 22:40.5. Andria Craig finished 124th with a time of 23:17.7, while Klara Jarolimova rounded the women's score in 126th place. She had a time of 23:18.6. Marenika Wisdom and Sarah Carter also competed for the 49ers, finishing 135th and 161st, respectively.
