Both Charlotte Squads Net 13th Place Finishes at Cross Country Regionals

Louisville, Ky. - The Charlotte 49ers Cross Country teams finished 13th in each race at the 2006 Southeast Regionals hosted by The University of Louisville and the Greater Louisville Sports Commission at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer Park in Louisville, Ky. Saturday. Jane Daniels led the women with a 31st place overall finish in the 6K event and Adu Dentamo paced the men with a 50th place result in the 10K race.

With the top two teams earning automatic bids to the national championships later this month, No. 2 North Carolina State won the women's title with 61 points, and No. 14 Duke clinched the other women's automatic bid with second place and 70 points overall. No. 26 Virginia Tech was third with 83 points, followed by No. 22 Virginia in fourth with 109 points and Wake Forest in fifth with 164 points.

A pair of seniors led the way for Charlotte. Daniels was the top Charlotte runner, in 31st place with a time of 21:35.25, with Tsehaye Dagnachew close behind in 36th place. Aja Jackson was 75th, Stephanie Snyder was 98th and Amelia Slagle finished the scoring for the 49ers with a 138th place finish.

Defending region champion William & Mary earned second place with 70 points on the men's side, while No. 8 North Carolina State won the regional title with 64 points. Host Louisville was third with 80 points and No. 25 Virginia was fourth with 131 points, while Clemson was fifth in the field of 32 teams with 201 points.

Dentamo's 51st place finish was attached to a time of 32:16.15. He was followed by junior Matt Hipps and a 63rd place result. Ken Simeone logged a 67th place finish, with Chase Eckard 84th and Ryan Jank at the 103rd position.
