GREENVILLE, S.C. - Charlotte's cross country teams continued their season at the Southeast Regional Championships held Saturday at the Furman Golf Course in Greenville, S.C. The men's team placed seventh, while the women's finished 17th.
William & Mary captured the men's title, while NC State won the women's. Terry Brennan of Duke won the individual title in the men's race. North Carolina's Shalane Flanagan won the women's race.
Ian Dickinson finished the 10,000-meter course 23rd in a time of 31:24 to lead the men. Dan Monroe, the team's No. 2 runner, finished 40th. Josh Baker was third for Charlotte with a time of 32:26, which was good for 50th. Ed Schlichter placed 69th with a time of 32:48. Pat Strothmann rounded out the 49ers' score, finishing 72nd with a 33:04 time. Jared Kessen and Mike Ryan also competed for the Niners, placing 128th and 132nd, respectively.
Jen Taylor was Charlotte's top finisher in the women's race. She placed 33rd on the 6,000-meter course with a time of 22:36. Naomi Wendland finished 46th with a time of 23:07. Emily Wehr was third for the 49ers with a time of 24:33 to place 119th. Laura Syracuse completed the course in 25:26 to place 153rd. Britt Ellis capped the Niners' score, placing 165th with a time of 25:52.
