Cross Country Teams Finish Sixth, Seventh At Furman Invitational

Ian Dickinson finished 21st to lead the men, while Jen Taylor led the women with a 22nd-place finish.

GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Charlotte 49ers' cross country teams returned to action over the weekend, running at the Furman Invitational. The men's team finished sixth out of 27 teams, while the women placed seventh out of 32.

Ian Dickinson led the men, finishing 21st overall with a time of 26:22. Dan Monroe was second for the Niners and 38th overall with a time of 26:45. Josh Baker finished just behind Monroe with a time of 26:48 to finish 39th. Finishing fourth for Charlotte was Ed Schlichter, who completed the course in 26:55 to finish 45th. Pat Strothmann rounded out the 49ers' score with a time of 27:10 to place 54th.

Jen Taylor was the first to cross the line for the women's team, placing 22nd with a 18:38 time. Naomi Wendland also finished in the top 25, finishing 25th with a time of 18:42. Laura Syracuse was third for the 49ers, finishing 63rd with a time of 19:32. Karin Levin and Emily Wehr capped the Niners' score, finishing the course in 20:01 and 20:52, respectively.

Charlotte's next meet is Oct. 28, when they compete at the Conference USA Championships in St. Louis, Mo.
