Rock Hill, S.C. – For the second time in three meets, Charlotte ran a reduced squad with the men only fielding a pair of runners and the women running only seven athletes at the Winthrop Invitational in Rock Hill, S.C.
By only fielding two runners, the Charlotte men’s squad was unable to record a team score, but Travis Brotherton was the top finisher for the Niners with a 39th place finish and a time of 26:38.
The other 49er runner was Rob McCormick who crossed the line in 62nd place with a time of 27:17. Charlotte’s seven womens runners placed seventh overall with their top finish coming from Jackie Ross who crossed the line in 18th place.
Charlotte head coach Brad Herbster was pleased with his team’s performance and especially with Ross’ finish.
“Jackie ran extremely well, finishing top 20 is always good and we saw good depth from the women overall,” said Herbster about his female harriers.
Charlotte is back in action in two weeks when they travel to Lehigh University for the Paul Short Invitational.
