CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The 49ers men's and women's cross-country teams both placed the top two relay teams to capture victories in the Charlotte Cross-Country Relay Invitational at McAlpine Park, Saturday. The top three pairs from each team figured in the dual meet scoring.

The men's team, led by first-place finishers Ian Dickinson (Fr., Alpharetta, Ga.) and Josh Baker (So., Morganton, N.C.) and runners-up Mark Weems (Fr., Sewell, N.J.) and Dan Monroe (Jr., Snellville, Ga.), defeated Campbell, 7-14 and topped Wofford, 6-15. Campbell defeated Wofford, 8-13.

Campbell's top team of Ryan Richmond and Justin Lambert placed third, overall. Wofford's top team of David Barnett and Charles Malpass placed seventh, overall.

The 49ers women's team, led by first-place finishers Emily Wehr (Fr., Tarpon Springs, Fla.) and Naomi Wendland (So., Lusaka, Zambia) and runners-up Laura Syracuse (Fr., West Seneca, N.Y.) and Jen Taylor (Jr., Fairport, N.Y.), defeated Campbell, 9-12 and topped Wofford, 7-14. Campbell beat Wofford, 7-14.

Campbell's top team of Heather Lee and Lisa Lee placed third overall, followed by the Camels Natalie Lewis and Rebekah Haithcock. Wofford's top team of Emily Smother and Alicia DeFronzo placed fifth overall.

The 49ers will compete at Davidson, next Saurday.
