Charlotte Women Take First; Men Second at Cross-Country Relay

Women Sweep Top Three Spots

McAlpine Park - With the tandem of Stephanie Snyder and Aja Jackson leading the way, the Charlotte women swept the top three slots to capture the 2006 Charlotte Relay championship, defeating UNC Greensboro and Virginia Intermont. In the men's race, Virginia Intermont grabbed the top two spots to best the runner-up 49ers. Davidson placed third while UNC Greensboro and UNC Asheville tied for fourth.

Snyder and Jackson, each running a 3K, teamed to take first-place with a time of 21:44.8, while the 49ers duo of Lindsay Warfield and Amelia Slagle placed second at 22:34.2. Erin Macauley and Liana Blue gave Charlotte a sweep of the top three spots with a third-place finish at 22:39.2.

In the men's race, with relay partners each running a 5K, Virginia Intermont's Matt Neff and Andrew Fuller took first place at 30:43.7 followed by teammates David Cheromei and Daniel Khelafla at 30:51.5. Charlotte's Matt Hipps and Aaron Kauffman placed third at 31:10.3 to lead the 49ers to the runner-up finish.
