Junior Carly Romberg Nets Atlantic 10 Co-Volleyball Player of the Week Honors

Libero Shatters School Record for Single-Game and Single-Season Digs Totals

Nov. 5, 2007

Philadelphia, Pa. - Charlotte junior libero Carly Romberg has been named Atlantic 10 Conference Co-Volleyball Player of the Week, officials announced today.

Romberg broke a pair of school records this week after recording a school-record 36 digs on "Dig for the Cure" night (Nov. 1) in a win over George Washington. In this match, she set the single-season record for digs (previously 482) with 491 digs at the end of the match.

She followed with a 21-dig match in a defeat over Fordham on Nov. 2, giving her 512 total digs in her season with one match remaining in the regular season. After this year, Romberg will own three of Charlotte's seven best single-season digs totals.

Romberg helped the 49ers remain in playoff contention by averaging 7.1 digs per game in the two victories.

She leads the Atlantic 10 with 5.89 digs per game overall on the season, and in conference-only matches, she tops the league with 7.08 digs per game, nearly two digs per game better than the next-best performer.

In her career, Romberg has 1,425 digs, just 77 behind second place and 116 digs away from holding the all-time career mark.

Charlotte finishes the regular-season this Friday with a 7 p.m. match at George Washington.
