Mulder Named A-10 Volleyball Player of the Week

Senior Middle Hit .500, With Nearly Two Blocks Per Game

Oct. 23, 2006

Philadelphia, Pa. - Senior Middle hitter Lynae Mulder has been named Atlantic 10 Volleyball Player fo the Week, officials announced today. Mulder hit .500 on the week and averaged 4.33 kills and 1.83 blocks in a 2-0 weekend for Charlotte. Mulder had just one error in six games and posted 12 kills and seven digs in a 3-0 sweep of Fordham on Oct. 22. She added 14 kills and four blocks in a 3-0 win over Rhode Island on Oct. 20.

This was the fourth time this year a 49er was so honored. Junior outside hitter Cori Dayton was Co-Player a week ago, with setter Eden Ramos taking Co-Player honors the week before. Dayton was the first Niner to win the award for the week of September 11.

For the season, Mulder leads the squad in attack percentage and blocks, while third in kills per game.

In the A-10, Mulder ranks fourth overall in attack percentage, and second in blocks per game in conference play.

Charlotte is 17-9 overall and improved its record to 5-4 in league play. The 49ers are now 10-2 at home, including a 31-10 games record in Halton Arena.

Charlotte outhit opponents this week .365 to .134 in the attack percentage column. The Niners also manhandled opponents at the net, with a 21-8 blocking margin, both categories that Mulder had a significant impact on.

The 49ers head out of conference play for one last time this season with a Tuesday night road match at Liberty. The Niners head back into conference for a pair of rematches. Charlotte travels up the coast to George Washington for a 7 p.m. Friday night match. Sunday, the Niners continue north to New York in a rematch with Fordham at 4:30 p.m.
