Volleyball Returns Home To Host Davidson

The 49ers look to avenge last season's loss to their cross-county rival at Halton Arena.

Sept. 22, 2003

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Charlotte 49ers volleyball team looks to get back on track Tuesday night, when they host cross-county rival Davidson at 7:00 in Halton Arena. All five of the 49ers wins this season have come at home.

Charlotte (5-9) is 10-7 all-time against Davidson (7-7). The Wildcats prevailed in last season's showdown, taking a 3-2 win at Belk Arena. Looking to avenge last season's defeat, head coach Lisa Marston, who spent seven seasons at Davidson before joining the 49ers, will turn to sophomore sensations Abbey Szlanfucht and Lisa Newell. So far this season, the pair has accounted for more than 38 percent of the team's points.

This is the final week of non-conference action before conference play cranks up next weekend. Prior to the season, the 49ers were picked to finish fifth in Conference USA by a vote of the league's coaches.
